Eiffel tower with matchsticks

Description

During the COVID-19 lockdown, I found myself with an abundance of time and a desire to channel my energy into something meaningful and creative. Inspired by the iconic architecture of the Eiffel Tower, I set out on a challenging yet exhilarating project to construct a model of iconic Eiffel Tower entirely out of matchsticks. Over the course of 15 days, I dedicated 95 hours to meticulously placing each of the 2,750 matchsticks, eventually building a 95cm tall Eiffel Tower right in my Dubai home. This project was not just a test of my patience and precision; it became a testament to my passion for building and creativity. With the invaluable support and guidance from my parents, Ajesh Kuniyil and Harsha Ajesh, I navigated through the complexities of this endeavor. They were my constant pillars of strength, ensuring I remained focused and motivated throughout the process. The journey from the inception of this idea to its completion was incredibly fulfilling. Each day brought its set of challenges and learnings, pushing me to explore and expand my capabilities. My story even caught the attention of Gulf News, a major newspaper in Dubai, which featured my achievement, adding to the immense pride and joy I felt. As a second-grade student of GEMS Heritage Indian School, this project was a significant departure from my regular academic pursuits. It was a creative outlet that not only kept me engaged during the lockdown but also sparked a curiosity in me to take on more ambitious projects. Encouraged by the success of the Eiffel Tower model, I now dream of constructing a model of the Burj Khalifa, aiming to push my limits even further. Looking back, this experience has been incredibly rewarding. It has taught me the value of perseverance, attention to detail, and the importance of following one’s passion. I hope my journey inspires others to embark on their own creative ventures, especially in times when finding positivity and motivation can be challenging.
